MERIMEX Fruchthandel GmbH was founded in 1983 by Mr Herman Meerloo (Dutch consul, and the man after whom the company was named) together with Mr Skip Pescosolido (from the company Sequoia Orange Company, based in California), Hans Pasch (from the company Hans Pasch, Export Corp, in York) and Armin David (CEO of Merimex). For almost 40 years, MERIMEX GmbH has been one of the main protagonists in the fresh fruit and vegetable industry on the European market. Over the years, we have evolved from a dealer focussing on importing grapes to an international fresh fruit and vegetable merchant.

Merimex Naturally
We are pleased that consumers are increasingly thinking about where their products come from and the exact circumstances that actually stand behind them. In close cooperation with our producers, our aim is to develop projects and methods that have a positive impact on the environment and people. All our products which are traded in Merimex Natural packaging are provided with a QR code, which can be scanned on any mobile phone. This QR code gives consumers precise information about what is special about this product so as to hopefully be able to generate even more interest, but, above all, to offer more transparency and understanding about the process.
Quality & safety
We and our producers feel responsible for our actions and our products, so we always pay attention to complying with the latest international certification standards.
Independent quality control
All the products we receive are inspected by an independent quality company for their properties, and samples are also regularly taken by recognised laboratories to make sure that we meet the specifications of our customers.
Continuous exchange
We also maintain good and regular contact with our suppliers and can therefore ensure that our sales team is quickly and professionally informed about the quality status of incoming goods in order to offer customers the best service possible.
Continuous development
During the annual work visits to the individual growing regions, agreements are made on production methods and quality guidelines for the individual products.
In this context, one continuous focus of our efforts is on developing innovative packaging methods or improving traditional packaging materials.
Multiple certifications
The producers from whom we source goods worldwide are all certified according to GlobalGAP or HACCP and also have at least one socially oriented certification. Our ambition is to offer the best possible information and transparency regarding our products, because only in this way can we be sure that the effort, care and often also personal dedication invested by the producers in their products also receive the acknowledgement they deserve.
